project overview
manage all of the chapter's social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Linked-In, Twitter), collaborate with fellow communication team members, guide board members in running social campaigns and advertising events, research trends and analyze data

top accomplishments
• creating unique voice and copy rules for each platform
• initiating consistent use of Linked-In
• initiating use of Instagram stories
• management of Portfolio 1-on-1 & Design Camp® instastories 2019

note 1.
the first 'live' instastory I ran was during our 2019 Portfolio 1-on-1 event. there were two problems I wanted to absolve in using a live instastory. first – lighten the assumptions among students that the event was intimidating and stressful. second – help attendees (especially new ones) not struggle to find their way around the event. working in collaboration with the event directors, I successfully addressed both of these issues by showing
non-attendees what to expect from the event, connecting attendees by sharing their instastories on our page, and offering simple way finding instructions. By curating this welcoming atmosphere through social media, we bettered the experience of the 2019 attendees and encouraged stronger attendance the following year.

one of the things we needed to do on social was thank and mention our sponsors. typically, this is accomplished in a traditional 'thank you' or call out post, but this year, I wanted to do something a little more fun for them (left).
note 2.
with the success of Portfolio 1-on-1, I decided to plan Design Camp's first 'live' instastory. way finding was one of my top goals to address in this story, however, I had several additional aims such as showing behind-the-scenes content, encouraging our members to interact with us during the event (I shared all our attendees' stories to ours; we even received some fan art!), and create a feeling of belonging and welcomeness. if I had to choose the single most successful thing I tried while managing the chapter's social media, it would be the 2019 Design Camp instastory. the story highlight can still be found on the AIGA MN Instagram page (well, last I checked anyway), otherwise, here are a few of my favorite pieces of the event's instastory (below):
advertising book signings
behind-the-scenes footage

announcing events
sharing attendees' stories
repping our sponsors
schedule reminders
repping our speakers
repping our host + farewell campers
